I prefer books I can follow and enjoy rather than something you have to read three times just to "get" it. I found the Sound and the Fury absolutely unreadable and have no intention of ever trying again. One person found this helpful. My son wanted the entire works of William Faulkner but the price was exorbitant.
So, I ordered this as it was more affordable. I just wish the pricing on these were more reasonable. My son seemed "ok" with these. It takes strength--and perhaps guidanceto follow the Sound and the Fury.
But life is full of sound. And, sadly, a lot of fury. Faulkner divined a lot of tension, as well as clarity and beauty, into what is likely my favorite book of all time. So many voices, so much beauty, so Southernbut so universal. If it could only have a character named Scout I will admit it. I have never watched Oprah on television.
